Free Amigurumi Unicorn Pattern (Horn, Hooves and Single Crochet Only)

A free amigurumi unicorn pattern in US terms: body, head, muzzle, ears, a cone horn, and arms and legs with sky-blue hooves, with counts and assembly.

Free Amigurumi Unicorn Pattern (Horn, Hooves and Single Crochet Only)

A sitting unicorn with a caramel horn, a soft muzzle, and sky-blue hooves on all four limbs. The hooves are just a colour change on the last rounds of each arm and leg, so this is also a gentle first pattern with colour changes. Single crochet only, about 17 cm to the tip of the horn in medium (DK) yarn.

This pattern was written by our amigurumi designer: you put the animal together from parts in 3D, and it writes the rounds. That means every count below is exact for these proportions, and if you want a longer horn or a bigger head, you can open the unicorn in the designer, change it, and get a fresh pattern.

Tips

Make it your own

The proportions above are one version of a unicorn. In the designer you can make the horn longer, the head larger, the hooves a round higher or the whole animal twice the size, and it writes the new rounds for you, with the stitch counts and assembly notes updated. Your first pattern is free.

Frequently asked questions

What yarn and hook do I need for this amigurumi unicorn?

Any medium (DK or light worsted) yarn with a 3.5 mm hook: white for the body, a little sky blue for the hooves and caramel for the horn. Go a hook size smaller than the yarn label says so the stuffing does not show through. Chunky or chenille yarn with a 5 mm hook makes a big, plush unicorn.

How do I change colour for the hooves?

On the last stitch before the change, finish the single crochet with the new colour: insert the hook, pull up a loop in the old colour, then yarn over with sky blue and pull through both loops. Carry on in sky blue. Because the hooves are the last rounds of each limb, there is no need to carry the old yarn.

Can I change the size or the shape?

Yes. This pattern was written by the KnytStudio amigurumi designer from a 3D model. Open the unicorn there, make the horn longer or the head bigger, move the hooves up or down a round, and the instructions rewrite themselves.
